AHDPG offers a variety of self-paced, mentor-supported continuing education programs for Allied Health Professionals (AHPs). These programs target specific topics of interest to a wide variety of professionals in our industry. All courses listed below can be taken individually, at any time, or in order.

Anatomy & Physiology for Allied Health Professionals

Anatomy and Physiology is a critical academic course you must master to succeed in the health professions. In the course of a day as a health professional, you will be exposed to a variety of diseases involving all parts of the body and, therefore, must truly learn the workings and interrelatedness of all the body systems and functions. This 8-week, self-paced, mentor-supported online course introduces learners to anatomy and physiology with little or no prior biology knowledge. This course will cover all the major body systems that interrelate to maintain bodily homeostasis. The course contains multiple exercises, games, quizzes, and tests to reinforce learning and test knowledge of anatomy & physiology. This course is perfect for non-medical professionals who want to learn anatomy and physiology to pursue a career in healthcare, research, and government.

Medical Terminology for Allied Health Professionals

Medical terminology is a specialized language used in the healthcare industry. It has its own vocabulary, just like a foreign language. If you are working in the healthcare industry, whether that is nursing, medical assisting, coding, scribing, etc., you will need a good understanding of medical terminology.

In this 4-week, self-paced, mentor-supported online course, you will study the symbols and abbreviations used in medical terminology and learn how word parts, such as roots, suffixes, and prefixes, act as the building blocks of medical terms. This course will equip you to pursue opportunities in healthcare, such as pharmacy, physician assistant studies, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and optometry. It will provide the fundamental knowledge essential to your future career.

Speech Recognition Editing for Medical Transcriptionists

This course is being offered exclusively through AHDPG and will assist the practicing healthcare documentation specialist to confidently make the transition from a standard transcription production worker to a successful knowledge-based speech recognition editor. In addition, other medical transcription schools, training organizations, and employers can broaden their workforce development efforts. This course is a 100% online, self-study course with open enrollment and is designed to be completed at the student’s pace within a 90-day time frame.

MAC compatible with MAC versions of Word, Excel, and Express Scribe (there may be an additional fee for Express Scribe MAC download).

Medical Scribe Specialty Series
